Ten Backlist Titles you Want to Read
I am currently looking for books to buy with gift cards that I got for my birthday, so I’ve been checking out a lot of titles recently. For this post I decided that I would define “backlist” as books that have been published for a year or more.
Make sure to comment below with your thoughts!
I actually got a copy of this for my birthday. Most of the titles that I asked for were new releases, but this has been out for a long time and has been on my TBR before I even knew who Holly Black was.
I have wanted to read this FOREVER. I recently read Rebel Belle, which is also by Rachel Hawkins, and LOVED it. I am sure that this is a book that I will really enjoy!
I actually haven’t read a single Schwab title, young adult or adult. But I’m assuming that since every single thing she puts out gets rave reviews that I should probably pick one up. I was thinking of starting with this one, but if you think I should read a different one as an introduction first, I’m all ears.
I have heard great things about this series, but honestly I haven’t picked it up because I hate the cover. It just turned me off of the book. I had a bunch of e-books to redeem from a contest that I won, so I just picked this up. I am optimistic about it, hopefully it will prove that I shouldn’t judge books by their covers.
So funny story, I picked this up from the library back when it first came out. Unfortunately I also picked up a bunch of other titles, and read those instead so that by the time it was due I had to return it without reading it. I have never re-visited it, but with the recent release of the third book in the series it is getting a lot of buzz, so I think I might check it out!
I actually just heard of this book. It looks AMAZING. Magic? Con games? Full of funny banter? Sign me up right this instant! I am going to get this with my gift card for sure.
This is another backlist title that I am just now hearing about. Thankfully I asked for recommendations for what to buy with my gift cards or I would have never known about this series. People say it’s amazing and I hope they’re right.
I have ALWAYS loved books set in boarding school or magical school settings. I can’t believe that I have never read this honestly. I feel like I only found out about it within the last year or so.
This book came across my radar around Halloween. I think some publisher was giving out copies for a book club or something. I got this one too when I redeemed my challenge prizes!
During #blogoween, everyone had this on their lists of Top 5 Witchy books. Everyone who has ever read this book seemed to love it. I devour witchy books like candy, so of course I had to have it. I got a copy in a trade on Twitter and I am excited to read it. It’s SUPER long though, so I hope it’s worth it.
Let’s Chat!
What backlist titles do you want to read? Have you read any of the titles on my list? If so, how were they? Is there anything on my list that isn’t worth reading? Is there a book on my list that I should definitely check out? I still haven’t spent my gift card so if you have backlist recommendations please let me know! Make sure to comment below so we can talk about backlist titles!

I want to read Vicious so badly!! I’ve read all her other books and love them so much!! A Discovery of Witches is on my TBR, I just haven’t bought it yet! 😛

You HAVE to read Vicious! It’s one of the few books that live to the hype: there’s no romance, the characters are fascinating, and the plot is innovative/similar to X-men.

I’m so sick of unnecessary romances in books. It seems like every single book has a romance in it, but it’s not always needed and sometimes it takes AWAY from the plot.
