Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings based on the meme Waiting on Wednesday by Breaking the Spine. In this weekly post people share a book that they’re excited about being released.
I have always loved reading these posts, looking forward at books that people can’t wait for. But I always find that I want a list and it is just one book. So I decided I would share three books that I can’t wait for.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Nikolai Lantsov has always had a gift for the impossible. No one knows what he endured in his country’s bloody civil war—and he intends to keep it that way. Now, as enemies gather at his weakened borders, the young king must find a way to refill Ravka’s coffers, forge new alliances, and stop a rising threat to the once-great Grisha Army.
Yet with every day a dark magic within him grows stronger, threatening to destroy all he has built. With the help of a young monk and a legendary Grisha Squaller, Nikolai will journey to the places in Ravka where the deepest magic survives to vanquish the terrible legacy inside him. He will risk everything to save his country and himself. But some secrets aren’t meant to stay buried—and some wounds aren’t meant to heal.
The Cerulean by Amy Ewing
Sera has always felt as if she didn’t belong among her people, the Cerulean. She is curious about everything and can’t stop questioning her three mothers, her best friend, Leela, and even the High Priestess. Sera has longed for the day when the tether that connects her City Above the Sky to the earthly world below finally severs and sends the Cerulean to a new planet.
But when Sera is chosen as the sacrifice to break the tether, she doesn’t know what to feel. To save her City, Sera must throw herself from its edge and end her own life. But something goes wrong and she survives the fall, landing in a place called Kaolin. She has heard tales about the humans there, and soon learns that the dangers her mothers warned her of are real. If Sera has any hope to return to her City, she’ll have to find the magic within herself to survive.
Circle of Shadows by Evelyn Skye
Sora can move as silently as a ghost and hurl throwing stars with lethal accuracy. Her gemina, Daemon, can win any physical fight blindfolded and with an arm tied behind his back. They are apprentice warriors of the Society of Taigas—marked by the gods to be trained in magic and the fighting arts to protect the kingdom of Kichona.
As their graduation approaches, Sora and Daemon look forward to proving themselves worthy of belonging to the elite group—but in a kingdom free of violence since the Blood Rift Rebellion many years ago, it’s been difficult to make their mark. So when Sora and Daemon encounter a strange camp of mysterious soldiers while on a standard scouting mission, they decide the only thing to do to help their kingdom is to infiltrate the group.Taking this risk will change Sora’s life forever—and lead her on a mission of deception that may fool everyone she’s ever loved.

What books can you not wait for? Are you excited for the books I listed? Have you read any of them yet? Have you read any other titles that any of these authors have written? Make sure to comment so we can talk about titles we can’t wait to read!
I’ve not read any of these authors or books! I’m looking forward to so many in 2019…I just heard Angie Thomas has a new one coming out. ❤️

The Hate U Give is a good one and the movie was excellent too.

I never saw it. Speaking of movies, I just won a copy of Five Feet Apart. I am impatiently waiting for it to arrive at my house!

Oooh I just looked it up! Is there such a thing as arcs for movies? 😂 How did you hear about this one? I’m older than you I think so all I can think about is the Suite Life of Zack and Cody hahahahaha

LOL how old do you think I am? I’m 25. I stalk goodreads for new releases. I won a giveaway on Twitter. But I stalk everywhere for ARCs and new releases. But incase you misunderstood, Five Feet Apart was a book first that came out in November.
Have you seen my ARC guide? If you’re looking for more books I have a whole bunch of resources

Ooooooh, okay the first thing that came up was the movie. So I was like holy cow, it’s not even out until March- she’s amazing! And yes girlfriend, I totally loved that post about arcs – I was blown away by how thorough it was and I’m pretty sure I included it on my monthly wrap up! You’re just a wealth of knowledge!

I stalk books like nothing else. It’s my most popular post, so I can’t remember who read it anymore. I have to update it though, there are a lot more resources that I’ve found since posting it.
And as far as the book, I really want to read it. But I have been impatiently waiting for it to arrive. I have won three giveaways and I am STILL waiting for all of them to get here. Today I go to the mailbox and I get a second copy of a book that I already had. Sent from the same place too… Like… why?
I am waiting on copies of Five Feet Apart (won from a magazine), The Haunted by Danielle Vega (won from Bookish First and have been waiting on it for like a month, and Dead School by Laura Gia West (won from Shelf Awareness Pro). I am most excited about The Haunted by Danielle Vega, but it doesn’t come out for a while, so maybe I should try and be more patient….. but it’s been a freaking MONTH! maybe two weeks. BUT I THINK IT’S BEEN LONGER

Wow you’re going to be busy! I always forget about Bookish First, I need to check their site more often. The last book I won took forever. I just won some very sweet kids books from BookRiot. I don’t think I’ve ever won a goodreads giveaway though!

If you have read any of the books that they had you can win points for reviewing them and then once you have enough points redeem them for one of their books. Try some of the kindle copies for giveaways. The less people who enter the better chance you win. And look through the ones ending soon rather than the featured ones. The featured ones always get more entries because it’s the natural setting.

And I was just guessing about your age! I’m several decades older than you…okay just two!

Funny that you referenced the Suite Life of Zach and Cody then.

I have kids so that’s my excuse. I totally don’t love Phineas and Ferb or Kim Possible. 😝

Did you try requesting Circle of Shadows??
LikeLiked by 1 person
I actually JUST re-requested it. For some reason I thought it was only on Netgalley. I think that with what I said this time I might have a good chance. Who knew that little box could make such a big difference? I thought I was getting denied because I had a new account.

I have it too! I actually have 2 of the 3.
I got it without saying anything in the box. But that might be an anomaly. I do have an ‘excellent’ rating though. 🙂

I just changed my profile so that my rating went up to excellent. But my edelweiss account is super new because I used to have one and I never used it and then recently made a new one.
Yeah I re requested Circle of Shadows as well. If I could only get a copy of King of Scars my life would be amazing. But alas, that ARC seems to be few and far between.

It is. I keep getting declined for The Wicked King too. But at least I’m still saving money. I just got approved for 7(!) on Edelweiss. 🙂

I got 5 today! I got The Wicked King for my birthday. Try changing up what you say in your request. Say you loved her previous books and then mention some sort of good stat you have

I’ll try that. 🙂

I wouldn’t give up. I would just keep trying different things. You never know what they’re looking to hear. Mention how many Holly Black books you’ve read and what you rated them at. Someone told me to do that.

Oooh. I might try that if I still get denied. ^-^

I also discovered this the hard way, I got rejected for a book and i tried again with something different and it changed everything!
Also, once you read and review what you requested you even have higher chances

I am soooo glad that I figured it all out. I also noticed that you can review non review copies on edelweiss? So I am going to cross post my reviews onto there, see if it helps my chances.

That sounds like a good plan 🙂

The upcoming book I’m most excited about is The Sentence is Death, by Horowitz. It will be published in the US next June 4. The good news is I already have an ecopy, through Edelweiss. The bad news is I will have to read 7 other new releases before that one!!!

I like having them super early like that, but waiting to read them is the hard part. I have a copy of The Escape Room, which looks great, but it comes out in August so I have to wait to read it.
