It’s Monday! What Are You Reading 2/11/19

This bookish post was started by Kathryn at The Book Date, check her out! Basically this post is just my way of sharing what I’m currently reading and a place for you to share what you’re reading. I’m constantly looking for ways to grow my TBR, but my most favorite way is through book recommendations from other bloggers. Please make sure to comment below with what you’ve read this past week!

Just Read:

an anonymous girl by greer hendricks and sarah pekkanen.jpg

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

This book put the psychological in psychological thriller. I can see why The Wife Between Us was such a big hit. I really enjoyed the way this book felt like a game of cat and mouse.

The Shadow Queen

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

This book is a title that has been on my wish list since Christmas. I loved this dark twist on Snow White. Plus who can deny a book with such a beautiful cover? Check out my review here.

Not In the Cards by Amy Cissell.jpg

Not in the Cards by Amy Cissell

This book was an author request that I absolutely loved. A cozy mystery that also had a paranormal aspect as it was set in a town full of psychics. I have read a few cozy mysteries and I really love the genre. The review of this title will be up this week, so look out for it!

Currently Reading:

Death Comes in threes by Kimberley omalley.jpg

Death Comes in Threes by Kimberley O’Malley

I have really been enjoying the cozy mystery genre, so when I saw this on Netgalley I decided to request it. So far it’s been pretty good. I am looking for some recommendations of good books in the cozy mystery genre if anyone has any.

What Am I Reading Next?

I really have no idea what to read next as I have kinda just been mood reading lately.  I think I might read one of these books next though. If you have read one of them I would love to know your thoughts!

Let’s Chat!

What have you been reading this week? Have you read any of the books above? Do you have a recommendation in the cozy mystery genre? What do you think I should read next? Comment below so we can talk about it!

  1. I’ve never read any of these!
I am currently reading ‘Into The Water’ and I have to say I’m not particularly enjoying it so far, but I am hoping it gets better!

    1. YES! I have 3 dogs, both the pups in my lap in that picture are spaniels, one is an english springer and the other a cavalier. The english springer is super smart, my cavalier loves to be on your lap. they’re both snuggle buddies though. I also have a golden

      1. IKR? My first dog was also a purebred. I think the breeder lied to us and she was more of a mutt but she was healthy! And that’s the important thing. She lived to14-ish. Maybe 16. I can’t remember.

      2. What kind of dog was that??? 14-16 is a LONG time. We’ve had 3 golden retrievers, Bonnie and Molly who died and now Candy who is 13 and a half, Sophie is the cavalier king charles spaniel and roxy is the youngest, the english springer spainel. So we have a large, medium and small dog. Candy, Roxy and Sophie. 🙂

      3. I’m hoping for April. We are still thinking about it. We are on the approved list though. Just have to send in a deposit.

I’m hoping to get a female ruby or female black and tan. My least favorite is the tri…

      4. I just looked that up. They’re super cute too! I looked up the tri colored too. See why you wouldn’t really like that. So you want Ruby, black and tan, then red and white, then tri colored (which is black tan and white right?)

      5. Right? All cavaliers are adorable. They are SOOO small when they’re puppies. Personality is a big part of it. When we got Roxy I wanted her bc of her facial markings and mom was initially like no… she’s shaking, she’s scared of people. And then she realized that her tail was wagging so hard, but she only had a nubby so her whole body was shaking! So adorable! So we picked the one that was so happy to see people!

      6. well I don’t know about that. we don’t do bones in my house so much as treats because we have so many dogs. we do “brush your teeth bones” which are just tough treats to help there teethies. Sophie has chewed on rocks so she is missing a lot of teethies

  2. I’m currently reading The Gilded Wolves. I’m liking it so far. I haven’t read any of the books you listed yet but a few are on my tbr. I hope you enjoy what you’re reading.

  3. Between the Lies looks interesting, I’m making a note of that one.

I’m currently reading The Whispers by Greg Howard (excellent), Gil’s All Fright Diner (fun so far, and my only break in a Middle-Grade Marathon), and my favorite librarian ordered Small Spaces by Katherine Arden on my recommendation so I get it first (HA!). I pick it up tomorrow if the snow isn’t too deep.

On the subject of dogs, Cavis are the sweetest tempered spaniels on the planet. They’re calm, loving and easily trained. I love working with them.

    It’s a mystery why I always have a Basenji. Cat in a dog-suit, I always say.

    1. Lol that’s amusing. I love my English Springer though, she is so funny and so like… in tune with what’s going on. She seems to sense my emotions before I even do. She’s probably the smartest dog I’ve ever had.

I have been reading a lot of review copies and requests lately, along with one or two back list titles. I just finished Guess Who, which is a Netgalley title that I have had for FAR too long without reviewing. Before that I finished an author request and now I am reading another quick Netgalley title and I’m probably going to finish in a quick title from an indie author that I’m about halfway through before deciding on what to read next. I saw The Whispers, it looked really great! I haven’t read a lot of middle grade titles lately, which reminds me that I have a MG review copy that I am supposed to review before the end of February. So many books! 🙂
