Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings based on the meme Waiting on Wednesday by Breaking the Spine. In this weekly post people share a book that they’re excited about being released.

I have always loved reading these posts, looking forward at books that people can’t wait for. But I always find that I want a list and it is just one book. So I decided I would share three books that I can’t wait for. If you click on the title of the book it will take you to the book’s Goodreads page.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

Ninth House by Leigh BardugoGalaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most elite universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. These eight windowless “tombs” are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood’s biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.

This is Leigh Bardugo’s upcoming adult fantasy. I am super excited about this upcoming release because I love Leigh Bardugo’s stories. I would have probably picked this up regardless based on the description alone, but I’m even more excited that it’s written by Leigh Bardugo.

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black.jpgHe will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne.

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

This is the third book in The Folk of the Air trilogy and I am SO excited to read it. I loved reading The Cruel Prince and I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC of The Wicked King, so I have been waiting for this last installment since last November. Lucky for me The Queen of Nothing‘s release date has been moved up!

There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool

There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool.jpgThe Age of Darkness approaches.
Five lives stand in its way.
Who will stop it… or unleash it?

For generations, the Seven Prophets guided humanity. Using their visions of the future, they ended wars and united nations―until the day, one hundred years ago, when the Prophets disappeared.

All they left behind was one final, secret prophecy, foretelling an Age of Darkness and the birth of a new Prophet who could be the world’s salvation . . . or the cause of its destruction. As chaos takes hold, five souls are set on a collision course:

A prince exiled from his kingdom.
A ruthless killer known as the Pale Hand.
A once-faithful leader torn between his duty and his heart.
A reckless gambler with the power to find anything or anyone.
And a dying girl on the verge of giving up.

One of them―or all of them―could break the world. Will they be savior or destroyer?

This is a YA high fantasy novel, which obviously I can’t get enough of. It sounds SO up my alley and honestly out of all the titles that I listed, this is the one that I am the most excited for. I have my fingers crossed that I might be able to get an ARC of this one.

    1. I’m guessing There Will Come a Darkness? Unless you went to book con or book expo and was one of the lucky ones to get your hands on a copy of Ninth House. I JUST discovered it was up for download on Edelweiss!!! I am hoping for a physical ARC from the publisher too!

      1. Yes, There Will Come a Darkness. But I actually discovered a LOT of good ARCs up for download on Edelweiss, I have settings on Edelweiss to show only the books that I would want to request, so I NEVER look at downloadable ones, but then when I saw There Will Come a Darkness was available I checked for other titles and these were the other ones I found that I wanted:
        Beyond the Black Door
        Into the Crooked Place
The Girl the Sea Gave Back (OMG SO HYPED)
        Shadow Frost
The Grace Year (ARE YOU KIDDING?)
        The Good Luck Girls

I had no idea that there were so many good titles just available to download! I already had Shadow Frost from Netgalley, but I get doubles on both sites sometimes to try and help out my stats if I know I’m going to read the book.

      2. Oh I do that too! I have a panel of highly anticipated books to keep an eye on! That has been a LIFE SAVER! I have requested GLGs… fingers crossed

  1. Great post! I cannot wait for the first two books! The first two books in The Cruel Prince trilogy absolutely blew me away and they seem to just be getting better, and a new book from Leigh Bardugo is always exciting!
