Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings based on the meme Waiting on Wednesday by Breaking the Spine. In this weekly post people share a book that they’re excited about being released.

I have always loved reading these posts, looking forward at books that people can’t wait for. But I always find that I want a list and it is just one book. So I decided I would share three books that I can’t wait for. If you click on the title of the book it will take you to the book’s Goodreads page.

Nothing much happens in the sleepy town of Shy in Avon-upon-Kynt. And for eighteen years, Emmaline Watkins has feared that her future held just that: nothing.

But when the head of the most admired fashion house in the country opens her prestigious design competition to girls from outside the stylish capital city, Emmy’s dreams seem closer than they ever have before.

As the first “country girl” to compete, Emmy knows she’ll encounter extra hurdles on her way to the top. But as she navigates the twisted world of high fashion she starts to wonder: will she be able to tailor herself to fit into this dark, corrupted race? And at what cost?

This cover grabbed my attention, but I want to check this out after how much I enjoyed Spin the Dawn. A book about a fashion competition that is compared to The Selection? I need to check it out.

IN THE KINGDOM OF AXARIA, a darkness rises.

Some call it a monster, laying waste to the villagers and their homes.
Some say it is an invulnerable demon summoned from the deepest abysses of the Immortal Realm.
Many soldiers from the royal guard are sent out to hunt it down.

Not one has ever returned.

When Asterin Faelenhart, Princess of Axaria and heir to the throne, discovers that she may hold the key to defeating the mysterious demon terrorizing her kingdom, she vows not to rest until the beast is slain. With the help of her friends and the powers she wields—though has yet to fully understand—Asterin sets out to complete a single task. The task that countless, trained soldiers have failed.

To kill it.

But as they hunt for the demon, they unearth a plot to assassinate the Princess herself instead. Asterin and her companions begin to wonder how much of their lives have been lies, especially when they realize that the center of the web of deceit might very well be themselves. With no one else to turn to, they are forced to decide just how much they are willing to sacrifice to protect the only world they have ever known.

That is… if the demon doesn’t get to them first.

So this is obviously up my alley. Magical world is plagued by a demon and a princess with magical powers who is going to try and stop it. This kind of sounds like The Boneless Mercies to me, which I was super excited for, but I hope that it’s better.

The streets of Creije are for the deadly and the dreamers, and four crooks in particular know just how much magic they need up their sleeve to survive.

Tavia, a busker ready to pack up her dark-magic wares and turn her back on Creije for good. She’ll do anything to put her crimes behind her.

Wesley, the closest thing Creije has to a gangster. After growing up on streets hungry enough to swallow the weak whole, he won’t stop until he has brought the entire realm to kneel before him.

Karam, a warrior who spends her days watching over the city’s worst criminals and her nights in the fighting rings, making a deadly name for herself.

And Saxony, a resistance fighter hiding from the very people who destroyed her family, and willing to do whatever it takes to get her revenge.

Everything in their lives is going to plan, until Tavia makes a crucial mistake: she delivers a vial of dark magic—a weapon she didn’t know she had—to someone she cares about, sparking the greatest conflict in decades. Now these four magical outsiders must come together to save their home and the world, before it’s too late. But with enemies at all sides, they can trust nobody. Least of all each other.

I’m not even going to explain all the reasons that I want to read this one. Any fantasy novel with thieves or criminals as the main characters is instantly on my TBR.

      1. Are you sure? When you go to review copies click “to download” because I found a bunch of titles available to download that I was SO hype for like:
        There Will Come A Darkness
        Shadow Frost
The Girl the Sea Gave Back
        Beyond the Black Door
        The Grace Year
        The Good Luck Girls

I have been denied for The Grace Year on Netgalley so I was HYPE and There Will Come a Darkness is probably my MOST anticipated fall release yet it was up for DOWNLOAD? I was flipping out. I was pretty sure that Into the Crooked Place was one of those titles available to download on Edelweiss bc it’s not in my notifications as approved on my home page, yet I downloaded it.

      2. I got there will come a darkness over a month ago. I requested good luck girls and it is pending the others I’m not bothered about

      3. I can’t believe how many great titles are available to download on Edelweiss. Both There Will Come a Darkness and The Grace Year are some of the Most Requested books on Netgalley, but Edelweiss is just giving them away. LIKE WHATTT

      4. Into the Crooked Place is available to download on Edelweiss if you want it, I checked on my phone. All those titles that were available to download that I sent you were basically some of the titles I was most excited for this fall. I never look at “to download” so when I saw them all I basically shit my pants. My netgalley ratio is absolute shit bc of when I first started I requested almost anything and everything.

    1. I believe that both Into the Crooked Place and Shadow Frost are available to download on Edelweiss!

I have a copy of The Storm Crow that I will be reading this month. I have heard VERY little about it though, so I’m a little anxious. I hope that you enjoy both of them!

  1. It is definitely something they can do.person by person. Because I know some are on automatic download for some publishers and some just have to just hit request and will get it (some are like that with me) and some get the ability to request and some dont even get that chance (like there will come a darkness/chosen)

    1. I checked on my phone, not logged in and it looks like Into the Crooked Place is available to download for everyone even if you don’t have an Edelweiss account… But then I found The Bone Houses available to download, but I had requested it and been denied, so now I can’t download it. 😦

      1. I wonder if I can download The Bone Houses on my phone? I went to the Edelweiss site on a different device and clicked on Review Copies and then “to download” and saw that The Bone Houses was available to download even if you didn’t have an account, but I didn’t try it yet. I am probably going to though, just so I know and so I can read it if it works LOL

  2. Gah so many great books! I was so tempted to request an arc for A Dress for the Wicked so I’m looking forward to reading it. The book I am looking forward to the most this year is Becky’s Chamber’s ‘To be taught, if fortunate’, as I am a huge Becky Chambers fan. There are some great books coming up in Autumn though! It’s going to be hard to squeeze them all in before the new year.

    1. You’ve mentioned To Be Taught, if Fortunate before! I have looked it up since then. There are so many amazing titles that come out this fall and not a ton that I’m interested in over the summer, so I’m reading ahead so I can read all the fall ARCs that I want.
