This Top 5 series started back in October and I kind of lost motivation for making it every week. But it’s back! This is a series of books that I want to read that all have a common theme. Previously on the blog I have focused on witches, werewolves, thrillers, faeries, fairy tale re-tellings and high fantasy. I am going to try and bring this series back for every Saturday.
The upcoming schedule is:
7/27/19 — Psychological Thrillers
8/3/19 –Books with Asian Settings
8/10/19–Books about Assassins
8/17/19 –Books with Found Families
8/24/19 — Books about Dragons

Psychological Thrillers
Goodreads defines Psychological Thrillers as: a specific sub-genre of the broad ranged thriller with heavy focus on the unstable emotional states of characters, in combination with mystery and thriller.
I have read a few psychological thrillers that absolutely blew my mind. I love them so much because the psychological aspects can be so fascinating. I really enjoy thrillers where you don’t know who to trust at all. Psychological thrillers can be extremely mind bending and full of amazing twists that you never see coming. Some of my favorites are: Believe Me by J.P Delaney, An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing. (Click on the titles if you want to see my reviews!) What are some of your favorite psychological thrillers? Make sure to comment below!
There are so many great psychological thrillers out there that I have yet to read, so these are just the top 5 that I have heard so much about and am dying to read.
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
After reading An Anonymous Girl I can see that this writing duo has massive talent.I passed by a chance at reviewing their debut collaboration The Wife Between Us, but after reading An Anonymous Girl I NEED to read it. I absolutely love the way they combine their writing and have heard nothing but amazing things about this book. It’s definitely the number one on this list.
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
So I actually haven’t read a single Ruth Ware title yet, but have a copy of The Death of Mrs. Westaway that I’ve been meaning to get to for a while now. This book gets a lot of high praise and is apparently a must read for anyone who loves psychological thrillers. I am dying to check this one out.
Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage
This is another book that I passed up an ARC and found myself regretting it when I saw all the 5 star reviews come pouring in. Basically everyone I know has read this book except for me. I am pretty upset with myself for not snagging a copy when I had the chance because there are so many holds on this title at the library.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
The reason I haven’t read this one is because I figured that if the main character wouldn’t speak, the book was going to be boring. I’ve asked several people who read the book if that was the case and they all assured me that it was far from boring, and I needed to read it. Everyone I know seemed to love this book, plus it was one of the 5 books that made Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show Summer Reads 2019 finalists.
The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
This book has a closed setting which is something that I discovered I absolutely loved when reading Lock Every Door by Riley Sager. (Check out my review!) I have heard that this is a book you can read in one sitting and has an amazing plot. I also have a feeling that this one might feature an unreliable narrator, which is something that I have really grown to love in psychological thrillers.

These are all great picks. I’ve been wanting to get to The Wife Between Us too.
My favorite psychological thriller is definitely Gone Girl. I read it years ago, but that plot was just so crazy!
Thank you so much for tagging me 😘

I was hesitant to pick up The Silent Patient because I thought it would be boring if the main character never spoke. But I heard that it was done really well.

I’m going to add another to your list – The Woman in the Dark by Vanessa Savage. Its her debut novel about a family that move to the husband’s childhood home at the seaside. but this is the house where the previous occupants were slaughtered. Its a novel where you are never sure whether the narrator (the wife) really has cause to be afraid or is the effect of drug induced delusions????

The one on my summer Fling list that comes out august 6. Turn of the key… just haven’t written the review yet because I don’t know when to post it lol

Ah okay. I have like 4 titles that come out on August 6th and last Thursday I started posting them and I am going to post them every Tuesday and Thursday until August 6th itself. I read that posting the day of actually helps sales, but posting within 2 weeks of the release, before or after, helps generate buzz. Each publisher has different preferences though, of course, just to make things complicated.

95% of my titles came out July 2 (or 9th?) And Aug 6th lol… it isnt a matter of publisher preferences unless they explicitly asked or it is a tour… it’s like literally having something every day (many days- where it isnt a tour- having two posts a day for a week to ten days)… I just have to play it out till lightning strikes and an opening hits lol. And pray I havent keeled over by then. Like this week every day except sat is shot except sat is shot because I’m pretty sure there is Review I have to out out with the tag that I should’ve done sooner. Doh. So yeah lol

Wow that’s a lot of posts! I have been reading ahead so I’m trying to plan reviews for every Tuesday and Thursday. I have some backlist titles that will just have to wait until I have an opening as well.

Not all of them are reviews. Tuesday is the interview for the GM blog tour. The Demon World blog tour is two posts on back to back Friday. Today was the MC blog Tour. Thursday is Rotherweird. Wed is two posts but they aren’t difficult ones. It is just a tight week lol. Everything is pretty much read.. Like Friday is for the first book Smoke and Thieves which I read when it first came out.. so that isn’t an issue.. just can’t post anything else lol.
