Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endingsbased on the meme Waiting on Wednesday by Breaking the Spine. In this weekly post people share a book that they’re excited about being released.
I have always loved reading these posts, looking forward at books that people can’t wait for. But I always find that I want a list and it is just one book. So I decided I would share three books that I can’t wait for. If you click on the title of the book it will take you to the book’s Goodreads page.
Once again I’m a day late, but I forgot to post yesterday and still wanted to share these titles with you!

Five New Yorkers must come together in order to defend their city in the first book of a stunning new series by Hugo award-winning and NYT bestselling author N. K. Jemisin.
Every city has a soul. Some are as ancient as myths, and others are as new and destructive as children. New York City? She’s got five.
But every city also has a dark side. A roiling, ancient evil stirs beneath the earth, threatening to destroy the city and her five protectors unless they can come together and stop it once and for all.
I haven’t even read the description for this book yet, but I know that I want a copy. N.K. Jemisin wrote The Broken Earth series and each book in the series won many awards for best fantasy. I have the first book in the series and plan on reading it in December, I am predicting that I will give it 5 stars. When I saw that N.K. Jemisin was coming out with a new book I knew that I was going to want to read it.

When idealistic teenage queen Lia inherits her corrupt uncle’s bankrupt kingdom, she brings a new spymaster into the fold… Xania, who takes the job to avenge her murdered father.
As the two grow closer, they’re quick to learn that all isn’t fair in love and treason.
They must decide not only what to sacrifice for duty, but also for each other…
This is a fantasy that has spies and royalty and sounds so up my alley even though the synopsis doesn’t give you much to go off of. I want an ARC of this book, but currently there isn’t a US publisher. Hopefully I can find a way to get my hands on a copy!

The first novel written for an adult audience by the mega-selling author of the Divergent franchise: five twenty-something heroes famous for saving the world when they were teenagers must face even greater demons—and reconsider what it means to be a hero . . . by destiny or by choice.
A decade ago near Chicago, five teenagers defeated the otherworldly enemy known as the Dark One, whose reign of terror brought widespread destruction and death. The seemingly un-extraordinary teens—Sloane, Matt, Ines, Albie, and Esther—had been brought together by a clandestine government agency because one of them was fated to be the “Chosen One,” prophesized to save the world. With the goal achieved, humankind celebrated the victors and began to mourn their lost loved ones.
Ten years later, though the champions remain celebrities, the world has moved forward and a whole, younger generation doesn’t seem to recall the days of endless fear. But Sloane remembers. It’s impossible for her to forget when the paparazzi haunt her every step just as the Dark One still haunts her dreams. Unlike everyone else, she hasn’t moved on; she’s adrift—no direction, no goals, no purpose. On the eve of the Ten Year Celebration of Peace, a new trauma hits the Chosen: the death of one of their own. And when they gather for the funeral at the enshrined site of their triumph, they discover to their horror that the Dark One’s reign never really ended.
I was a big fan of Divergent and I still am. (I never read book 3 because I know how it ends.) I haven’t read anything by Veronica Roth since Insurgent, but I remember how much I loved the world she built in Divergent and I want to see how far she has come since then. I also have a copy of Carve the Mark laying around that I should probably find time to read as well. I’d love to get my hands on an ARC of this one!
What books can you not wait for? Are you excited for the books I listed? Are you going to add any of these to your TBR? Did you love Divergent? Have you read any of Veronica Roth’s books since then? What did you think? Have you read The Broken Earth series? (The Fifth Season is book one.) What did you think? Make sure to comment so we can talk about titles we can’t wait to read!
