Wow, I’m so touched that someone nominated me for an award. I have made an effort to try and be more interactive in the community and all of the sudden things like this have been happening. So it just goes to show that hard work pays off. Thank you Things In Her Head  and Lala’s Book Reviews for nominating me.

How I started blogging…

So I have been writing book reviews on Amazon and Goodreads for the past 4 years or so. I wanted to get more approvals from Netgalley and have publishers take me more seriously, so it seemed like the thing to do was to start a blog. I put it off for a long time because it looked like a lot of work, but then things in my life had changed and I decided that if I want to get more serious about my writing I should create a blog. It’s been a very big learning process for me. At first I just posted my reviews and I had no idea why I wasn’t getting many views. I treated it as a place to post my stuff, but didn’t interact with others. So that leads me to my advice…

Two pieces of Advice for New Bloggers

Use Twitter — Twitter is where the book blogging community is at! Use it to share your posts, talk to other bloggers, share funny bookish stuff, share giveaways and participate in Twitter blog chats. You can really get to know other people and once you do you will have much more interaction on your blog. People need to know YOU, not just the content you post.

Make Goals — Whatever they are it doesn’t matter. Break up the large goal of making your blog better into smaller ways to achieve that. Once you write down goals it is statistically proven that you are much more likely to achieve them. Write down your goals, share them with other people. This month I wrote down my goals and I achieved every single one of them, and nearly doubled in the amount of views that I wanted. You should check out my blog post on how to write SMART goals here.

  2. First, thank you so much for tagging me love ❤ and second, your advises are totally on-point! I totally agree with them. Twitter is a tool that can be used in various ways to benefit the blog and although Instagram is also a good platform, I have found it to be a bit daunting and high maintenance.
