Top 5 Books Published Over 5 Years Ago I Want to Read

This Top 5 series started back in October and I kind of lost motivation for making it every week. But it’s back! This is a series of books that I want to read that all have a common theme. Previously on the blog I have focused on witches, werewolves, thrillers, faeries, fairy tale re-tellings, high fantasy and many more. I am going to try and bring this series back for every Saturday.

Books Published Over 5 Years Ago

This was SO hard to limit this week’s selection to only 5 titles. There are so many older books that I would love to read! As a book blogger I tend to focus on new titles and I’m always reading ARCs, so most of the time I don’t have time to read older titles, but this year I’m going to try and fit in more backlist titles.  When looking back at titles that are older than 5 years I thought about how my tastes are constantly changing, but when looking at older titles I started to think about what books I was excited for 5 years ago. There are so many titles that I never had the opportunity to read back then that I still am excited about and I decided to focus on those books. So rather than focusing on older releases that I’ve only recently discovered I tried to focus on the books that I desperately wanted a copy of when they came out and never got the opportunity to read.

I know that I’ve talked about this book recently for Top 5 Saturday, but I just KNOW that it is totally my kind of read. I love reading about faeries and this series is one that I have wanted to read forever.

I wanted this book SO badly! Pretty much all of my friends read this book and it was all over my Goodreads feed. I used to read tons of dystopian novels and this trilogy got so much love from my friends.

Frostfire by Amanda Hocking

I read the Trylle series in a few days and have always wanted to pick up this spin off series. Honestly I have no idea why this never became a priority because I was obsessed with the Trylle series.

Half-Blood by Jennifer L Armentrout

Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is.

If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

I was pretty obsessed with Jennifer L Armentrout for quite a while, but out of all of her books this is the one that I’ve always wanted to read the most, but I’ve never been able to get my hands on a copy. I have heard it compared to Vampire Academy many times and I am still a huge fan of that series. Literally the only reason I haven’t read this book is because I haven’t gotten my hands on a copy just yet.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson

This book is the one on this list that is closest to my current tastes. I’ve been reading a lot of fantasies about royalty and magic lately. Honestly I probably didn’t read this title back then because I didn’t read much high fantasy or books that were over 400 pages back then.
